In December 2006 I decided to take the plunge and start studying again. I contacted BIFM and was directed to the BPP home study programme whereby my employer paid for me to have the course material, one year’s student support and one workshop by Jane. When the 20 books arrived I started to panic and wondered how I was ever going to get through the programme as I was working full-time as a Regional FM with 2 children and a home to run. I made a call to Jane who put my mind at rest, talked me through how to plan my studying and which exams to take first. I chose the hard route by only studying Part 2 of the program and I couldn’t have done it without Jane’s support. Throughout the 2 years I studied in my car every lunch hour and although this wasn’t ideal it paid off in the end. Jane provided me with ongoing support and guidance and despite a few personal hurdles throughout my studying I managed to complete the examinations this year (Dec 2008). Having now completed the exams I have managed to secure an excellent role working for Serco as a Site Services Manager (Deputy Contract Manager). I now hope to finish the qualification and am working towards completing my self assessment handbook.

"The study groups and revision workshops organised and run by Jane have been excellent – a great way to share learning, experience and tipsWhen studying, I dipped in and out of the different BPPworkbooks depending on what was happening at work. I found this was a good way to learn as the workbooks were well structured to enable me to refer to them when carrying out the different aspects of my job. This approach helped me structure my study and revision and worked well in the exams when I needed to provide practical examples. As most other Facilities professionalswould agree, it can be difficult to find the time or inclination after a long working day to sit down and study!"

Joanne Ray, BIFM Student of the Year Winner 2008

"Jane helped me to think about ways of organising myself and making the most of the study guides and the books provided. I also received valuable feedback on past examination practice papers which again was very helpful in ensuring that I was heading in the right direction".
Christina Bishop, 2008

"I found the revision workshops extremely useful and good focus to keep on track with a flexible learning course. Jane’s support
& dedication to all her students has been invaluable, from email and telephone support, updates and critical course information, revision session and exam preparation, her team is always on hand to provide a speedy response to any queries and problems. Jane also a spent huge amount of time and effort in rewriting the course material inline with today’s FM practices, legislation and the BIFM syllabus, and this made a huge difference to the studying & revision.”
Georgia Basquine, 2008

"The tutor being from an experienced background was a very constructive resource and was instrumental in shaping my approach leading into the programme conclusion".

David Manners, 2008

"The support was tremendous, including the wealth of information available in the workbooks and the regular emails and phone
calls keeping me in touch and monitoring progress".
Paul White, Winner of BIFM Student of the Year 2007

"just wanted to take the opportunity to say thanks for all your tuition and help in getting through the exams.  The quality of the tuition and focus of the workshops was much improved following your arrival on the teaching team, and I’m glad that the increasing BPP pass rates have reflected this!"

Damian Bradshaw, March 2006

"I certainly would not have managed to do so well without all the help and support I have had - especially you Jane"

Giles Mountain,  March 2006

"Thanks again Jane for all your help and support - I could never have completed this without your help!"

Judi Denny, Facilities Manager,  March 2006

"My success at Part 1 is all down to your expert tuition".

Sophie Goard, March 2006

"My tutor, Jane Wiggins, was especially helpful in the beginning, guiding and supporting me through tricky areas of FM such as employment law."

Paul Russell, 2005

“I just wanted to thank you for all your hard work and enthusiasm in teaching the group and myself. I found your lessons
interesting, enjoyable and relevant and your enthusiasm was infectious. If my exam results in any way reflect the standard of your teaching I should get Distinctions.”

Joanne Breare, 2005

"….a quick message just to say how much better I think the new workbooks are. Generally I found the old workbooks to be quite disappointing. In particular, I felt that the workbooks assigned to module 1 of part 1 were completely insufficient to cover the syllabus. As a home study student I am very reliant upon the workbooks to pass the exams so I am really pleased that the new workbooks are coming through and that they are much more in tune with the syllabus. I look forward to receiving the remaining workbooks as and when they become available"

Adam Pook, December 2005

"Deciding to study for the BIFM (Qual) requires determination and a thorough investigation of who to study with. Location, past performance, flexibility to suit my time available and calibre of the tutors were all factors that influenced my decision"

"I enjoyed attending the tutorials for the open discussions we have, learning to see things from someone else's perspective and learning about other sectors. The constant support and communication via e-mails from the support and admin team and on line tutorial notes is great. The ability to send in and receive feedback on past exam papers throughout the programme increases the support and learning process which BPP Malpas provide."

"Knowing that I have such a great support system around me encouraged me to use the tools and help available to achieve the best. Achieving the Student Winner of the Year 2004 has given me the confidence to move on and seek a more responsible job in FM, knowing that I have the support of a network of tutors and fellow students to help face new challenges."
